Safer Internet Day
We celebrated Safer Internet Day in Scoil Mhuire Fatima yesterday. Safer Internet Day (SID) is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. It is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education and (www.webwise.ie). The Theme for Safer Internet Day 2019 is “Together for a Better Internet“.
Celebrating Safer Internet Day in Scoil Mhuire Fatima was extremely effective in highlighting the school’s attitude to cyber-bullying behaviours as being unacceptable, while simultaneously promoting positive attitudes of cooperation, friendship and mutual respect across all the relationships within the school community.
The boys learned how to prevent and deal with cyber-bullying. They did a variety of lessons on the topic and received certs and wristbands to acknowledge their hard work. The boys have taken home information booklets for parents about cyber-bullying, social networking, privacy filtering and new media technologies. Further information for parents on internet safety is available in our school Anti-Bullying policy and at https://www.webwise.ie/guides-parents/
